During graduate school at UW-Madison, one of their mutual friends held a potluck every week for some fellow graduate students. They both showed up one particular Thursday and returned the next week, perhaps hoping to see each other again. After dinner the following week, a group stayed to play a board game during which Sarah insisted that she and Finn be partners. In the subsequent days Sarah invited Finn to participate in a murder mystery party she and her roommate, Kory, were hosting. Fortunately, Finn accepted and began to attend regular movie nights at Sarah and Kory's apartment. After months of wooing, Finn finally agreed to go on a date with Sarah. Probably some of the best decisions they've ever made.

Sarah and Finn got engaged in the most magical place on earth - Disney World! During an Edlund family vacation, they went to the Magic Kingdom on their own. Finn wanted to take a picture early in the morning near the statue of Walt and Mickey in front of the castle. As a photographer snapped some photos, Finn requested a special picture and got down on his knee. Sarah cried and happily said "YES!"
