Tony and Amber met on the very first day of their freshman year at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. They both found themselves in a 6 p.m. economics class on the West Bank business campus. Amber didn’t pay much attention to Tony at first, but the girls around her certainly did, whispering about whether he was a football player, searching for his stats, and guessing his position. But being a football player didn’t help Tony much, Amber quickly dismissed him as just another stereotypical jock. Tony, however, noticed Amber, the blue-eyed girl sitting behind him. But she wasn’t just another classmate; she was beginning to be a bit of an annoyance towards him. While Tony had a habit of answering all the professor’s questions (mostly because no one else would), Amber only spoke up to correct him when he got something wrong. The next semester brought them together again, this time on the St. Paul agricultural campus. That’s when Amber realized Tony wasn’t just a football player; he was a kind, down-to-earth farm boy. After class, Tony started offering Amber rides home, and before long, those drives turned into their first date. It wasn’t a whirlwind romance, Tony took eight months to officially ask Amber to be his girlfriend. But looking back, they wouldn’t change a single moment. Nearly two and a half years after that first date, Tony got down on one knee. After countless football games, track meets, navigating her law degree and his master’s, they are beyond excited to begin their next chapter together as husband and wife.
