Brett and Marissa matched on “Coffee Meets Bagel” (an online dating website). After matching, Brett reached out to Marissa and said “what do you like to do for fun around here” because Marissa’s profile said she likes to explore and go on adventures. On September 3, 2016, Brett and Marissa met in person at bite bakery in Utica, New York. Later that evening, Brett sent Marissa a Snapchat of his empty coffee cup that said “all that’s left is the memory” and the rest is history!
The question? I’m sure every guy thinks about the moment that he’ll get the opportunity to ask that special someone for their hand in marriage. Brett thought of that moment too, his just took longer to go from thought to action. Moment after moment passed by, opportunity’s came and went. The problem was, Brett became to caught up in planning the perfect moment that he forgot about what was most important, Spontaneity. The night of November 29, 2020 started like many before. The one thought on Brett’s mind stuck there like an earworm, when’s the perfect opportunity? Little did he know that he would have some help from the lucky lady. It was thanks to Marissa’s friends that Brett actually had a chance to catch her of guard. (He didn’t know this until after) . Brett is not one to talk much at all, let alone for a long period of time; both of which he did in that one moment about half past 7 on a Sunday night. He still doesn’t know exactly what he said, how fast he talked or if he mumbled, but what he does know is that it became one of his most proudest moments. No sooner did he start the proposal and then like that it was all over. Months in the making for one special moment that’s now a story unique to Marissa and Brett.
