Zach and Finch met at a combination Halloween and Birthday Party. It was a costumed event and Finch had spent most of the party inside the house as Zach spent most of his time outside in the back. As the party was beginning to wind down Finch saw Zach enter the party and just had to talk to him. They approached him with a compliment to his costume and a winning question, "Do you like Anime?". 10 days later the two of them were dating and the rest as they say is history!

To celebrate Zach and Finch's anniversary, they took a trip to Chicago for a fun little getaway. During the winter months, the Chicago Zoo gets strung up in colored lights, unlike anything they had ever witnessed before. After walking around hand in hand trying to keep warm, they posed for a photo opportunity inside of a small gazebo strung up like a giant snowball. It was during that photo that Zach began to serenade Finch with a close and personal song from their early days and pulled out a beautiful ring and asked Finch to marry him. In the midst of a freezing night in the big city, the two became certain and solidified in their life-long commitment together.
