It all started with a Facebook post LeRaé made asking if anyone wanted to attend a TedTalk with her. Devin replied expressing his interest, but later was unable to attend. Months later, LeRaé and Devin coincidentally ended up at Primanti Bros where LeRaé was singing in a band and Devin showed up to support his cousin who was a musician in the band. After the event, LeRaé, Devin, and a mutual friend decided to hang out. Somehow, it only ended up being the two of them so they simply enjoyed each other's company. That night, they exchanged numbers and maintained communication until LeRaé "left him on read." Three months later, LeRaé replied to Devin's message as if no time had passed and shared she didn't know how she missed his last message. Skeptical, but open, Devin replied and they stayed in communication. During their conversation, Devin mentioned his birthday was November 12th and he had no plans because birthdays were not a big deal to him. In LeRaé fashion she made sure to reach out on his birthday because she takes them very seriously. And from that day forward, they have never missed a day. They have been by each other's side through reestablishing self (individually), graduations, health changes, the loss of loved ones, and much more. What makes their story most significant is God's hand in the middle. Before they met, Devin had no intentions on dating and LeRaé settled into a place of believing she would be a single mother for the rest of her life. Even once communication increased, both Devin and LeRaé were simply enjoying conversing and sharing with each other. Sure, attraction was present, but the intention was just to get to know each other. Before they knew it, God began reminding them what they had prayed for. Each other... This love has not come without challenge, but with God in the center, their love has endured much and is a true testament to the glory of God in their lives. Matthew 19:6 (NIV) - "So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
