Bored on a summer Wednesday evening, I decided to accompany some friends to Clinton Lake to watch them play some slowpitch softball and have a few adult beverages. Little did I know, that night would forever change my life. In the parking lot before the game, my friends made the rounds of introductions of all the guys on the team. When it came around to Doug, he greeted me with a hello and a wink of the eye.
After the guys played their games, we all decided to continue the evening at Saints Pub in Lawrence. Some food, drinks and lots of flirting later, we decided to call it a night. We both got in our separate vehicles with our friends to make the trek home. But wait - we didn't exchange phone numbers! Fortunately, we pulled up to the same stop light, right next to each other. Doug rolled down the passenger window and I followed suit. Next thing you know, he says "Where have you been all my life?" Needless to say, I was smiling endlessly and we managed to exchange numbers before the stop light turned green. And as they say, the rest is history.
Doug took me back to the spot we first met - the softball fields at sunset.
