How We Met

March 18, 2016

HER VIEW…Andrew and I met around St.Patrick's Day 2016. I had finished up with work for the day and was headed over to my friend Chelly's apartment to have a St Paddy's day dinner. When I got there plans had changed. We were meeting up with Chelly's twin sister and one of their friend's from high school (aka Andrew). Chelly had talked about Andrew before and I met him very briefly when I crashed their post high school reunion. I quickly thought Andrew was attractive even though he was in a big baggy sweatshirt and dirty jeans. In his defense he had just come from work. After a string of poor first dates I had decided to put dating on hold. Little did I know a new relationship was around the corner. We had decided to go get a drink together at the Thirsty Moose in Manchester, NH so Chelly, Olivia and Andrew could all catch up. I figured I would simply tag along. No sooner do we go to the car and Andrew starts asking me questions about myself and this continued for the night. I thought it was odd that Andrew was so interested in my life and not catching up with his friends. It took me almost the entire night to figure out this was a set up. Eventually Andrew and I shared contact information. One week later we were going out for our first date! HIS VIEW...Hannah and I had briefly met at a Christmas party that my High School friends and I have every year. Hannah came with Chelly to the party but didn't know anyone there so she was pretty quiet. Fast forward a couple of years... I had asked Chelly if Hannah was single. She said she was but that she was very protective of Hannah because they were close friends and she didn't want to see her friend get hurt. Chelly trusted me and informed me that Hannah was at her place for the weekend so I made sure I was there. I drove from Portland Maine right after work to meet Hannah at Chelly's before we all went out for dinner. I couldn't keep my eyes off of her. The initial set up was a success and the rest is history.

The Proposal

July 22, 2017

Andrew and I have a mountain that we have hiked numerous times called Mount Kearsarge. We had our first kiss after this hike and he told me he loved me at the top of the mountain. Little did I know something really big was going to happen this day. Earlier in the week I had been wanting to do something outside and we both thought it was about time to hike "our" mountain. We left early that morning, stopped for some coffee and breakfast along the way and made the beautiful drive up 93 to Winslow State Park. It was a very busy day up there and the mountain top was crowded. Andrew then suggested why don't we head down as it just seemed more and more people were coming up. As we walked down I said to Andrew "We should do this more often. It is an enjoyable and inexpensive date." He just kind of sighed and went on. Then I said "Remember the last time we were up here?" (which was when he told me he loved me) and again he just kind of shrugged it off. He then told me, "Why don't we go over to this little clearing over there?" I was excited because I thought he wanted to take more pictures with me. Little did I know that was not the case. We stopped and looked at the views and I found a blueberry bush so naturally I started picking them. By the time I had a little handful I turned to give some to Andrew who at that point had a small box in his hand and was down on one knee. I honestly can't even remember what he said to me besides "Will you marry me?" In response I kept repeating are you serious and then he had to ask me again before I remembered to actually respond with a YES! I could not stop crying the ENTIRE way down the mountain and we ran down that mountain. We spent the rest of the day sharing the news of our engagement with all our loved ones!
