After a lot of convincing, we were set-up on a blind date by mutual friends for a PIKE bus trip. The theme was "you are what you drink," so we grabbed our sombreros and drank tequila and have been inseparable ever since.
After graduating from LSU, we moved to Dallas, TX. It will never be New Orleans, but we're now taco connoisseurs, have had our cars towed at a Rangers game, can easily recite the traffic song, eaten more food than you can imagine at the state fair, survived 110 degree summers, dashed down Greenville on St. Patrick's Day, visited the Reunion Tower (AKA the Ball) one too many times, slept through a real-life tornado, traded in Rouses for Kroger, are on a first-name basis with the NTTA, have just removed the blinkers from our cars, and overall made Dallas home. We also welcomed a new member to our tribe in 2017 - Nova, the spoiled rotten lab.
The week leading up to the engagement, Justin planned a "Goodbye Checklist" to Uptown as we were packing up to move to another neighborhood in two short weeks. On the list were activities such as "see a play at the Magnolia Theater" and "ride the trolly to The Rustic" and "send off dinner at The Mansion." We planned out all of our activities for the week ending with a date night dinner at The Mansion on Friday. After an amazing dinner, we headed outside to grab an Uber. As we made our way out the door and down the driveway, Justin grabbed my hand, got down on one knee, and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. After a mini-photo shoot, a horse and carriage were waiting to take us home where our amazing family was waiting to surprise me. The celebration continued all weekend as the people who love us most showered us with love.
Due to multiple covid postponements and general life challenges, we ultimately decided to put our engagement on pause in 2021. We've spent the last 18 months challenging each other and ourselves, learning, growing and building our life full of love. In true Justin fashion, our engagement week was filled with surprises, fun date nights and all the twists and turns. On December 1, I woke up to a Maserati in the driveway and Justin was nowhere to be found. Later that day, we took off in the Maserati for dinner but made a pit stop at the Grapevine Botanical Gardens. And after 2,835 days of love, laughter and adventure, Justin got down on one knee and again asked me to marry him. Of course, it was the easiest yes of my life.
