The First Day 10.27.12 The Yes Day 04.23.21 The Best Day 09.17.22
We went to the same school since fifth grade but did not know each other until high school. However, there are a few pictures with both of us over the years. I even went to her Sweet 16 but we never spoke. We had a class together sophomore year in which I don’t remember Allison and a class junior year in which she does not remember me! Our first attempt at getting to know each other failed when a friend gave me her number junior year. We texted some and even walked together after lunch with friends, but nothing ever clicked. Fast forward to senior year. I had something in the works for Homecoming but another guy asked the girl first. Allison had something worked out with a guy from another school, but her mom was not fond of him. In an act of desperation, I reached out to friends, who pointed me in the direction of that girl that followed me around after lunch the year before. At the time, I thought she was annoying, and Allison thought I was a football jerk who was always listening to his headphones. Through the perseverance of friends and a couple group dates, I got the courage to ask Allison to Homecoming. The dance went well, and soon after we started dating in October 2012! After graduation we went to separate colleges, each taking our fair share of 45 minute drives to visit each other. After graduation in 2017, we both moved home with our parents and finally moved in together in 2019. After eight years of dating and a year and a half of living together, I decided it was time to seal the deal. During our trip to Utah in April to visit Allison’s brother, we went on a hike in Zion National Park. The hard part was convincing Allison that it was normal to change outfits in the middle of the woods to take nice pictures at sunset. If you know Allison, you won’t find it hard to believe that we were running late and almost missed the sunset! Luckily, we got there just in time, lined up the shot, and I popped the question. Allison said yes! The countdown then began.
