Mekyo and I met after he came to play for My Theatre🎭 Awards Show on May 5th. We were at the after party (Cinco de Mayo Party😜) where he came up behind me while I was dancing and came singing in my ear 😏 but we never exchanged numbers. I honestly don't remember seeing him after that party🤷🏽♀️ 🙄 So, I just didn't bother asking about him anymore. Then, probably a day or two later I get some random phone call from an area code I ain't never seen in life🤣😂 It was a 903 number so I was hesitate to answer at first but let's just say I'm glad I did😍 BC the next voice I heard was the deep baritone voice, the same voice that came talking sweet nothing's and sanging in my ear. He claimed he was able to see me, so of course he had me literally spinning in circles in the middle of the MSC looking for him. Then he finally made himself visible coming out over by where the PV store and game room was. As we started conversing I realized I had never given him my number 🤔 Apparently he got it from a mutual friend 🤷🏽♀️ I was on my way to class or rehearsal so I wasn't able to stop and talk long but I did make sure to save his number😏 And even though the semester was about over and we were in our last few days, which meant I was headed back to Austin for the summer, we literally talked EVERY DAY. From May up until I came back in August where we just continued to date. Mekyo officially asked me to be his girlfriend on December 25th in front of my entire family🤗 We were officially a couple in 2009 and it's been an exciting ride since. And he loves to keep me surprised and decided to ask for my hand in marriage on a Youth Sunday in front of our entire congregation🤦🏽♀️😜Where our beautiful daughter brought the ring 💍 to her daddy for him to bend on one knee and ask for me to become his wife😍💞 (Video's on YouTube🤦🏽♀️) And I thank God for sending a man in my life that literally LOVES ME FOR ME AND I'M ELATED AND CANNOT WAIT TO BECOME MRS. ANDERSON😘
Patrice and I initially met through a performance for theatre at Prairie View A&M University, in which I played with a band I was in at the time following her stage performance. She likes to tell everyone that we danced together at the party, and while dancing I sang to her in her ear, which is true, I did sing in her ear. We danced and enjoyed ourselves the rest of the night and parted ways. I acquired her number from a mutual friend, and a few days later I spotted her in the MSC, cafeteria, so I called her. She picked up wondering who it was, so I told her and also said that I could see her right now! Which, now that I'm writing this seems a little creepy to have done, but I digress. She began looking around to see where I was and once I told her, she came over and we spoke for a brief moment before class. A few days later school was over for the semester and she returned to Austin, TX for the summer, while I stayed in Prairie View, TX to attend summer school. We literally talked everyday for hours over the summer about everything, I mean up until 3a.m. before I finally have to let her go to sleep because the pauses in the conversation were getting longer the later it got. But we truly built a friendship on those conversations and I know that foundation has sustained us. Once the summer ended, she returned to PVAMU in August of 2007 and we continued to talk, but more so played cat and mouse over the next couple of years. I began pledging Alpha Phi Alpha in the Fall of 2007, and she began her process with Gamma Sigma Sigma in the Spring of 2008. We would hang out from time to time and began to grow closer, and by Christmas of 2009 I decided it was time to make things official and ask her to be my girlfriend. Fast Forward almost 10 years and we're still together. We are excited to see the blessings God has for us and our marriage!
God has truly blessed and matured us through the years, and we thank God for everyone he has blessed us to interact and connect with. God first, family second, and the rest will fall in place.
