Blake and I met about 6 and a half years ago. To be honest, it wasn’t love at first sight. It was more like... love at first text. Considering, I met him through a text from my mom stating, “Who is this boy here with Sammy? He’s really cute, Jess.” Leave it to my amazing mom, to find me my dream guy. Blake had been visiting my brother, Jeffrey, during his stay at Woodlawn Rehabilitation Center. He was with my cousin, Sammy. So, after that text from my mom, what does any normal 15 year old girl do? She stalks him on Facebook. Do I add him? Should I follow him on twitter? Is this weird? Probably. So, a day or two goes by, and I go to visit my brother with my mom. Both Sammy and his friend Matt were visiting too. As we are standing in the room, I start bugging my cousin about this “Blake guy.” “Does he have a girlfriend?” “What’s he like?” “How come I’ve never met him?” And last but not least... “Give him my number.” Now, if stalking him on Facebook wasn’t enough, I now wanted this guy (I’ve never met) to have my cell phone number. I could tell they were all annoyed by me, but I just wouldn’t let it go. 20 minutes later my phone dings. “Hey it’s Blake.” My heart stopped. Do I text back right away? Should I let him wait? It’ll be too obvious if I send it right now. I’ll wait. “Hey what’s up?” - me 5 seconds later. I was head over heels in love with someone I hadn’t even met in person yet. This one conversation led to me changing my routes in the school hallways. Just so I could pass him and we’d give awkward smiles. It also led to me telling all of my friends about “this senior guy” texting me. Truthfully, I don’t think Blake and I ever exchanged words (not even a full conversation) in person, until about 3 months later. We were on a boat with Sammy (of course) and some others. About yet another month later, Blake and I had our very first date. We still didn’t really talk, but hey, it got us this far :)
