How We Met

First comes school, then comes marriage!

Christian and Lizzie knew of each other in Middle School, but never talked. Christian had a 'bad boy' rep, so Lizzie stayed clear...;) Freshman year of High School, Christian was rescheduled into Lizzie's English class and was assigned the seat next to Lizzie (of course it was the only seat available). They were also placed in the same history class, where Christian asked Lizzie to be his partner for every project (for the grade and her pretty looks). Soon they became really close friends; walked to class together, stood on sidelines at football games, hung out after school and eventually had their first date at Chick-fi-la. Lizzie played hard to get, but eventually Christian got the nerve to ask her to be his girlfriend. On July 18, 2011 they became boyfriend and girlfriend...and the rest, well, you see how that went!

How He Asked

The biggest surprise of 2018!

(Told by the Bride) I received a text from a dear friend of ours, Samantha Smith. She is the owner of The Photography Smiths; she photographed our High School senior portraits, Allie's senior portraits, and I have even had the pleasure to babysit her sweet boys! So, when she asked if me and C would be interested in modeling for photos to put on her new website, I had no suspicion of what C, was REALLY up too. I asked C the next day or so, he said yes, and before I knew it we had scheduled a photoshoot for August 10, 2018. First we just start taking standard couple shots, and then she pulls out two chalk boards. She asks us to write “Class of 2018” so we can compare and contrast high school senior year to college senior year. We take a few of those…the location was absolutely breathtaking! All the flowers were in bloom, ranging from purple to light blue. Not a cloud in the sky, and the sun was setting perfectly. God had created this moment for us, and we owe it all to Him. Samantha starts wrapping up the photoshoot, and says for the last few photos to use the chalkboards again. “I want more natural reactions in these photos, so write something you love about each other – no peeking! – and then I will tell you to turn around at the same time.” So, me being, well…me, I was like “okay, mine has to be better than his!” I thought for a really long time…C was getting impatient and kept telling me to hurry up! (Now I see why, lol!) I wrote, “I love the way you love me,” and man, I thought mine was going to be better…but I was so wrong. S: “Okay, get ready! On the count of three, turn around…one, two, three…” There it was. The question I have been longing for, for so many years. “Will you marry me?” I was completely stunned. Thoughts in my head went a little like this... “Is this real? No way. This is the moment I have been dreaming of…he wants to marry, me? ME? This is IT! Omg, FINALLY! YES!” -- I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you, C. I love you.
