We've known each other since we were just 7 years old! But apparently God wanted us to live a little bit before we got together. It wasn't until October 8, 2013 that we officially linked arms. We were both seniors at Silver Lake, and had no idea what the future would hold. Fast forward one year. Kristen had been accepted at East Carolina University, and we made the easier-than-expected decision to make it work over 798 miles. Matt flew down to visit a few times, and although it wasn't easy, we would both agree that we never questioned our relationship. On April 26, 2016, Matthew enlisted in the United States Air Force. Kristen was still in college, and 798 miles turned into 1,335 miles when he was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base after finishing his training. Again, we made it work for over 2 years, beating all the odds. When Kristen graduated from college in December of 2017, we were FINALLY able to live in the same state! We moved into our first apartment off-base and started our life together. On April 14, 2019 Matt and Kristen went for a drive through the country in Nebraska. Without warning, Matt pulled over and said "Let's go for a walk." Kristen realized immediately what was happening, and then he started rambling and dropped to one knee. So here we are! We're so excited to share our special day with you all, and can't wait for October 9th, 2021.
