How We Met

Febuary 19th

I was awaiting my transfer from NYC and curiously wondering if the "right" guy for me really existed and if I thought that would be possible in SoCal. So I created a profile on a dating app and after applying a filter I named "The Works", it matched our profiles. Justin is the "The Works" plus so much more! He's the man I always dreamed of! Justin had a similar mindset where he was wondering if that special person was real. We started messaging through the site continuously until the first day he called me, February 19th. I was waiting for the train and there were evening re-routes and train delays so I picked up the phone while waiting on the platform for the M train on the lower east side of Manhattan. Justin was off roading/camping with his guys and timed leaving with the time I would be getting done with work in EST. It was magical. We were like little high school kids and talking until hours our parents would have never allowed. Dad flew out to NYC to help me with the 4 day drive to CA. I hadn't told him about Justin at this point, but as a daddy's girl, I wanted him to know and I definitely wanted his approval. Justin had just gotten done racing in Phoenix and of course, while I'm sweating how to bring it up to my father, dad starts talking about John Force's wreck in Phoenix! My mouth just blurted out "So... I'm talking to a guy that was just racing at that race". Oh boy did I want to crawl under the seat while waiting on Dad's response. He said, "Oh yeah?" and if you know my father, he just let me talk and stayed quiet but he had this sweet smile on his face that made me feel at ease. Once in OKC, Shelly told me how much dad wanted to met him. I told Justin thinking "this is it, he's going to bail for sure", but he agreed that we should ALL go eat when we arrive. I was freaking out thinking "what is wrong with this guy? Is he not scared? Dad is a sniper on the SWAT team!"... It's all history from there!
