FAQs

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Because these international festivities require a bit of extra planning, we kindly request that you RSVP no later than February 18th.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

The wedding day dress code is formal attire, and we'd suggest dresses, suits, or snazzy separates in any color. Lots of cobblestones throughout the city, so avoid stilettos! The welcome event dress code is dressy casual attire and located in a hilly part of town, so we recommend wearing comfortable shoes. As shopping secondhand is important to the two of us, we challenge our guests to borrow, rent, or purchase their outfits secondhand. Please let us know if you have any questions - we can't wait to see what you come up with!

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

Because we'd like to keep our celebration intimate, we aren't able to allow all of our lovely guests to bring a guest of their own. For this reason, plus ones are by invitation only. If you're unsure whether you're expected to attend solo or with a guest, please feel free to reach out. Thank you for understanding!

Question

Do you have a registry?

Answer

Most of you will be traveling a great distance to celebrate with us, which is a significant expense to you and the ultimate gift to us! With this in mind, please do not feel obligated to give us a physical gift. For those who insist on marking the occasion with a gift, we would be more than grateful to receive a small contribution towards one of the funds listed on our registry page :)

Question

Can I make a special request for food?

Answer

The welcome dinner and wedding cocktail/tapa hour and dinner will include a variety of unique dishes that represent the diverse and delicious gastronomy of Spain. While we encourage all of our guests to bring their adventurous spirits, please let us know about any dietary restrictions you may have when you RSVP so that we can make sure you are well-fed :)

Question

Are there other events planned?

Answer

Yes! In addition to the ceremony and reception on May 18th, we are planning a welcome event on the evening of May 17th and a casual picnic in the park on May 19th for all who are able to attend. We also added some information about several optional activities to our "Things To Do" page - please let us know if you'd like help booking any of these!

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

In mid-May, the weather in Granada is typically beautiful. Expect highs in the mid-70s and lows in the 50s with little chance of rain. Plan to pack layers, as most locations (including our venue) have outdoor seating and you'll likely need a jacket in the evenings.

Question

What's the best way to get around?

Answer

Granada is a very walkable city, so that's our main recommendation for getting around. Taxis and Ubers are also widely available. Taxis can be hailed on the street or called for you by a restaurant/hotel, and are typically cheaper than Ubers. Taxis take both card and Euros.

Question

Do I need to know Spanish?

Answer

While knowing some basics would be helpful, you will be able to get by with English throughout most of Spain. If you’re looking for a fun and easy way to practice before the wedding, we created a Duolingo classroom for our friends and families to join - www.duolingo.com/classroom/ktmdjh

Question

How do I handle money?

Answer

You can pay with a credit card (in Spanish, “tarjeta”) nearly everywhere in Granada, and places that do not accept card will advertise that. We recommend taking out a small amount of cash at one of Granada’s many ATMs (i.e., $100) to have handy for these such places.

Question

Any tips for restaurant etiquette?

Answer

1. Tipping is not expected/required. 2. Splitting bills is not always possible - be prepared to throw in cash, or have one person cover the bill and square up later. 3. Most restaurants do not take reservations - a great one that does is Los Manueles, so if you have a group or need to dine at a specific time, consider making a reservation at one of their locations.

Question

What are some common dishes?

Answer

This page includes a handy glossary of some common tapas/drinks, as well as pronunciation to help you order them: https://www.granadatapastours.com/typical-tapas-granada-tapas-tour/. The Anthony Bourdain “Parts Unknown” episode on Granada is also a fun way to familiarize yourself with the food scene!
