We first met years ago but the timing was not quite right until the beginning of 2020. We grew close in friendship and then started quickly dating. Marissa would have said yes to marriage on their first date. Daniel needed more time to come to that decision. This is the perfect picture of our greatest strengths and our clearest differences. Marissa is fearless and ready to jump into the unknown. Daniel is calculated and wise and never backs out of a commitment. We dated for 9 months but reached a hard point in our relationship where we were stuck - not moving forward, but not having any desire to lose each other. We made the decision to break up because the only way forward was marriage and Daniel needed time. Little did we know, the Lord had plans for us in that breakup. M's story: To break up with Daniel was the hardest thing I've ever done. But in that surrender God led me through a powerful journey of learning how to trust Him even deeper. He also taught me about unconditional love and the power of loving Daniel because he is my brother in Christ regardless of if he would choose me as his wife. During the three months we broke up, Daniel and I continued to be friends and stay in the same small group at church. It was a call to honor each other in the purest form - not because we could get something from each other. D's story: Over the time of the breakup, the Lord helped me to see how much I really loved Marissa and that I was dealing with some fear. He spoke powerfully to my heart and encouraged me not to be afraid to take this step of marriage. I felt the Lord leading me back to her. I reached out to Marissa and told her that I loved her and that I wanted to marry her!! We spent the next six hours talking about what the Lord had done in our hearts over the breakup and celebrating being back together. We feel so grateful for how our family and friends supported us, cared for us, cried with us, and now get to celebrate with us! See you at the wedding!
