Alex and I met in high school through mutual friends. His friends were dating mine, so we spent a lot of time together. I had a crush on him from the start, but he didn’t notice at the time. After high school, we went our separate ways and lost touch. Four years later, Alex texted me asking me out, but I was too nervous to say yes right away. I came up with every excuse, but kept texting him, secretly hoping that would calm my nerves. Months later, we ran into each other while getting our COVID vaccines on the same day—at the same place. I’m pretty confident he scheduled his appointment after I mentioned where and when mine was, but Alex will never admit it. After a few awkward words at the UD vaccine clinic and a lot of persuasion from my friends, I finally agreed to a “date.” We spent that first night on my couch in my college apartment, watching my roommate’s favorite (horrible) reality show, Floribama Shore. From that moment on, things just felt right. We’ve been inseparable ever since—finishing every season of Floribama Shore, spending countless quarantines together, and now, the same friends who talked me into that first date with Alex will be standing by my side on our wedding day.
