How We Met

The Bubble

On Friday, July 10, 2015, neither Stephanie nor Stephen wanted to go out to the bar (typical). However, one of Stephanie's friends was visiting from out of town so she went to spend time with her and a few other girlfriends. Stephen's friends also convinced him to go out through their typical peer-pressure tactics. Lo and behold, both groups decided to go to Dive, a small beach bar in Sea Bright that wasn’t known as a “hot spot” for younger crowds. As soon as the group of girls arrived, one of Stephanie's friends knew one of Stephen's friends so she went to say hello. Stephanie and her friends soon followed and started talking to the group of guys. That’s when Stephen and Stephanie started their own side conversation. They found out they grew up less than a mile apart from each other in Little Silver, went to middle school together, that Stephen had twin siblings a day older than Stephanie and the list goes on and on. Even with all of the common connections between them, they never knew each other. Typically, as the saying goes, “the rest is history”, but that didn’t apply here. Everyone went home and later that night Stephen texted Stephanie's friend asking for her number. Stephanie's friend told her what happened, so Stephanie was waiting for her phone to buzz. No buzzes would occur. Two days passed and Stephanie still hadn’t heard from Stephen; so, Stephanie (yes, you read that right) decided to text Stephen first. They went on a few dates around town, texted non-stop for weeks and became commuting buddies on the train in and out of work in NYC. Five years later, an apartment in Jersey City, a major healthcare speed bump, a puppy named Toby, a house in Rumson and much more…here we are.

The Engagement

Best Leap Day Ever

Stephen proposed on Leap Day of 2020. Stephanie knew Stephen had asked her Dad over Christmas and they had looked at rings, but she didn't know when the proposal was going to happen. On Saturday, February 29th, they drove from Jersey City to Anchorage beach in Sea Bright to let Toby run around (he loves the beach!). It was quite literally freezing, so there wasn't anyone else out except another couple with a photographer. Soon after playing with Toby and wandering around the shoreline, Stephen got down on one knee and proposed. While Stephen waited for what he hoped would be an emphatic, “Yes!” Stephanie just kept saying, "Are you serious?" over and over again. After Stephen assured her over and over again he was, she finally remembered to say “yes!”. As she stood around in shock, Stephanie realized the photographer was actually there for them. After a handful of beautiful pictures, they headed to see their parents. They headed back to the Rosone’s house where the Ferraris’s met them. After a glass of champagne and some flowers, Phyllis and Christie decided we would go to One Willow in Highlands for lunch to celebrate. Upon arriving at the restaurant Stephen surprised Stephanie again with 30 of their closest friends – some even flying in – and family waiting in the restaurant. The “surprise!” echoed through the room and signaled the start of the party.

The Wedding

Jupiter, Florida

Stephanie has been traveling down to Jupiter, Florida to visit her grandparents every year since she was about five years old. When they started dating, Stephanie wanted to bring Stephen along for a trip. It didn't take much convincing since there's golf, beaches and sun. Stephen immediately found out why Stephanie loved it down there and together they have continued to go back and visit at least once a year. It also holds a special spot in the heart of their families, as it’s where Stephen asked Stephanie’s dad for his permission and blessing to propose to his youngest daughter. As their relationship comes full-circle, with Jupiter, Florida being a major piece of the puzzle, they couldn’t think of a better spot to commemorate their wedding and hope you find this place as beautiful and tranquil as they do.
