Historic 25th Street
If you are more into the city life, Historic 25th St is a great place for shopping and dining. It's got lots of unique mom and pop shops, art, and a few bars (Alleged is a good one if you want to chill on the rooftop with a beer or cocktail).
Snowbasin Resort
Known for their snow sports and the 2002 Winter Olympics, this resort is also open in the summer and fall. Take a gondola up the mountain for sight seeing or hiking. If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a mountain bike in town and take it up the gondola! They gondola operates from 10am - 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Check out their website for tickets. They also have a great brunch, so we've heard.
Ogden River Swimming or Tubing
The Ogden River is accessible from many locations but the easiest way might be from High Adventure Park in Ogden. We've included the address here and a link to a blog post about tubing the river. It seems like life jackets are required in the river, or there might be a fine if caught without one. There are many places where you can rent tubes and life jackets, including Weber State University and Level Nine Sports, both in Ogden. It's highly recommended to wear water shoes, considering there are sharp rocks in the river.
Causey Reservoir Paddle Boarding or Kayaking
Causey is one of the most beautiful places to kayak, swim or paddle board in Northern Utah and we highly recommend it. There are beautiful bends along the reservoir that make every turn a gorgeous surprise -it feels like you're paddling along a wide canyon, except you're not on a scary river. The beach is pretty steep in most areas, so it might be easier to rent inflatable paddle boards. The parking lot gets full quick so it's recommended to show up before 10am on weekends. 9:00am is ideal. If you're staying in the city of Ogden, you can rent paddle boards or kayaks at Weber State University or "Level Nine Sports". If you're staying in Ogden Valley, you can rent paddle boards at "Detours" or "Ogden Valley Sports" in Huntsville. These are the coordinates to Causey parking lot: "41.296376, -111.585228". Plug them in to your map and save the directions before heading out because there is no service there.
Waterfall Canyon Hike
"Waterfall Canyon Trail is a 2.4 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Ogden, that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, running, mountain biking, and snowshoeing and is accessible year-round."
Paper Airplane Hike
Paper Airplane Trail is a 0.9 mile easy loop trail located in Eden that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. You'll find a pretty cool paper airplane sculpture and a nice view of Ogden Valley on a clear day.
Tour of New World Distillery
If you're into this, we highly recommend taking a tour and tasting. The owners are super friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate. As you might have noticed, it's also in a convenient location. Due to COVID, you need to schedule the tour 24 hours in advanced and they may still require masks and proof of vaccinations.
Ogden's George S. Eccles Dinosaur Park
"Dinosaur Park is an exciting collection of creatures from prehistoric crawlers, to predators and even flying reptiles. More than hon hundred dinosaur sculptures fill the park. These realistic full-sized sculptures are based on actual fossils skeletons, and are brought to life by robotics, artistic details and state-of-the-art sound system. A museum provides hands-on experiences with fossil discovery and several full-size dinosaur skeletons."
Hill Aerospace Museum
The museum is FREE and open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. "The mission of Hill Aerospace Museum is to portray the history of Hill Air Force Base, its tenant organizations and the assignments of the Ogden Air Logistics Center. Exhibits detail much of the history of aviation, from a 3/4 scale replica of the 1903 Wright Brothers 'Flyer' to fighter planes, helicopters and support aircraft."
Slackwater Pizzeria
This is one of our favorite spots to eat and have a drink! The website says it best: "Slackwater has served up artisan pizzas and broadened beer vocabularies in Ogden, Utah since 2011. We invite you to our tables to relax by the Ogden River, enjoy live music, and peruse that carefully curated beer menu we love. Ogden River Brewing
If you're looking for a great vibe mixed in with some nature, this is a great spot! Their patio is located right next to the Ogden River, where you'll often spot people tubing and relaxing.
