Goldfield Ghost Town
About a 20 minute drive from the wedding venue, you'll find a gold mining town at the base of the Superstition Mountains with lots to do! Browse the fun shops, explore the museum, pan for gold, or visit the saloon. For more adventures you can take a jeep ride, do an underground mine tour, or take a horseback ride through the area. Finny has even been and he loved it!
Hieroglyphic Trail
Beautiful hike (3 miles roundtrip) through the Superstiton Mountain Wilderness area. The provided link gives a nice overview of the trail, how to get there, and tips to keep in mind. Trailhead is about a 10 minute drive from the Gold Canyon Golf Resort & Spa. From the Resort: Head southeast toward S Kings Ranch Rd 0.2 mi Turn left onto S Kings Ranch Rd 1.8 mi Turn right onto E Baseline Ave 0.2 mi E Baseline Ave turns left and becomes S Mohican Rd 0.4 mi Turn left onto E Valley View Dr 0.3 mi Continue onto S White Tail 0.3 mi Turn right onto E Cloudview Ave 0.5 mi Hieroglyphic Trailhead Hieroglyphic Trail, Gold Canyon, AZ 85118 Also look for signs throughout the neighborhood offering directions.
Lost Dutchman State Park
Named after the fabled lost gold mine, Lost Dutchman State Park is located in the Sonoran Desert, about 11 miles away from the wedding venue. Several trails lead from the park into the Superstition Wilderness and surrounding Tonto National Forest. Take a stroll along the Native Plant Trail or hike the Treasure Loop trail for amazing views. October can still be very warm for Arizona so remember to take plenty of water, wear sunscreen, and bring a hat!
