Travel Note
We recommend you book a shuttle from airport to Puerto Juarez terminal in advance. Recommendation is to use CARM Tours and Transfers. Expect a 20 min ride. That will be your less stressful and cheaper route. However, if you don't, no big deal you can grab a cab. Cabs are easy but intimidating. When you walk out from baggage claim you will be attacked and harassed by airport cabbies. A cab is a reasonable way to get to the ferry but you will pay a little extra. Reminder: plan to bring cash (Pesos or USD) and expect the cab ride to cost you between $90 - $120 USD. Share riders (Uber) are not allowed to pick up at the airport.
Travel Note
Ultramar offers a passenger ferry service to Isla Mujeres. Take car or pre booked shuttle to Puerto Juarez (not the hotel zone location). Ferry departs every 30 minutes. You can buy your tickets ($15 per person) at the ferry terminal.

House Or Rental
Lots of options for rentals. We have personally stayed at multiple Airbnb locations and had great experiences. All very been very cost effective and safe.
Travel Note
Cash, cash, cash. On the island we highly recommend pesos. Most places do not accept credit cards. Some places may accept USD but most places prefer pesos...so bring pesos from the US. Alternative, you can withdrawal pesos from local ATM at groceries stores at the island (bit of a premium).
