Thank you to Diana Trujillo for putting our engagement video together.
You saw that right, the first day Alex and Fernanda had an actual conversation was on Valentine's day. Yes, it beyond adorable! It was dinner at USHLI (a Latino leadership conference). Fernanda tried to convince the advisor, Eric, to get all the girls at the conference chocolate covered strawberries for Valentine's day (which didn't end up happening) but never the less it was the start of Alex and Fernanda talking. A couple days later and after the conference, Alex drove Fernanda in a full on winter storm on an adventure to find chocolate covered strawberries.
Seven years later, Alex FINALLY decided to ask the question. Fernanda had just graduated from Northwestern's Physical Therapy program. So maid of honor and Alex began to work on a way to surprise her with the question. Her maid of honor knew that Fernanda loves taking pictures, so it was decided to do a graduation photoshoot at the University of St. Francis. Alex remembers Fernanda getting mad that he left the champagne at his house, because she wanted to pop bottles for her pictures. While preparing to take a picture together, Alex leaned over and whispered, "I love you"...taken aback Fernanda says, "Love you too". Alex proceeds to tell her that...well watch the video to see what happened that amazing day
Let's just say 2021 was a wild year for everyone. But we would not let a pandemic stop us from being husband and wife. The day was absolutely amazing, even if Fernanda was an hour late to her own wedding. But it's true what they say, a wedding doesn't start until the bride shows up. So in reality she was on time. Seeing the smiles and a couple tears of joy on our family member's face made it all worthwhile. Taking photos in downtown Elgin and having strangers clap for us or the photographer saying, "never seen a groom so happy to show off his ring". We are so excited to FINALLY be able to share this wedding with everyone.
