Historic Downtown
Founded in 1711, Historic Downtown Beaufort is a charming place to be! Be sure to walk along the most popular "Bay Street", home to a vibrant collection of boutique shops, art galleries, local restaurants, ice cream shops and so much Civil War history. Bay Street is located along the Beaufort River which provides remarkable waterfront views.
Beaufort Film Festival
FEBRUARY 20 - 25, 2024 The Beaufort Film Society will be presenting the Eighteenth Annual Beaufort International Film Festival the same weekend as our wedding. If you take a stroll downtown we are sure you will enjoy a display of filmmaker's surprises, educational forums, and the quiet charm of historic Beaufort! It is an extraordinary opportunity for filmmakers in the Southeast to showcase the beautiful "film-friendly" region of Beaufort and the Carolina Sea Islands. For the past quarter of a century Beaufort has served as the backdrop for more than 20 major motion pictures, to include Forrest Gump, The Big Chill, The Prince of Tides, and many more.

Visit one of our favorite beaches! During your visit to Dataw be sure to take a stroll on Hunting Island's pristine beach. A hidden gem as the locals like to call it, upon entering this beach you will be driving on winding roads through marsh and maritime forests that are sure to amaze you! Famously seen in Forest Gump (1994), The Big Chill (1983), GI Jane (1997), and the new Netflix Series Outer Banks (2020).
