Ferdous Zannat (Rumpa)
Bride
Rumpa was born in Bangladesh and moved to New York City when she was 10. She thrived here, becoming a valedictorian of her junior high school graduation just a few years later. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Chemistry in Rochester, NY. She came back to NYC to attend Albert Einstein Medical School only to return to Rochester for her residency. She now works at Woodhull hospital as a minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon. She works too hard and states her North Star has always been to think in the best interest of her patients. She went on two international volunteer trips with Doctors for Global Health. Although she spent so many years in Rochester, NY in close proximity to Toronto, she and Suhail only met in Oct 2024. Rumpa is known for her kind and caring personality. She takes care of everyone around her. She loves to travel and participates in daring adventures. She recently rolled down a snowbank onto a not-so frozen lake. She is a certified scuba diver and likes to bike / kickbox. She drives her Subaru like a Formula-1 race car, accumulating tickets like candy. She is a coffee addict and her favorite foods include uni (sea urchins) and exotic fruits like passion fruits, durian and mangosteens. She likes hiking, including being in hip deep snow in the winter time. In the past year, she has visited California, Hawaii, Costa Rica and Chile. She is excited to have found her forever travel partner with whom to build a life together.
Suhail Barot
Groom
Suhail has lived in four different countries; born in India, growing up in Dubai and spending his adult years in the USA and Canada. Despite being an only child, he is surrounded by many loved ones. His kind and gentle nature has earned him a spot in many people's hearts. Although the bulk of his formal education is in Electrical Engineering, he cares about the impact to nature and additionally obtained a Masters in Natural Resources & Environmental Sciences. He was a leader in several sustainability related organizations at University and afterwards including Engineers Without Borders. He tries to lower his carbon footprint and is an avid biker. His passion for learning and improving himself did not end after two masters, he went further to obtain a PhD in Electrical Engineering. Today, he manages a team that uses data to provide valuable information on customer behavior and business performance at Scotiabank. While not being a nerd, he enjoys traveling, good food, and listening to Taylor Swift. He doesn't just collect stamps but travels to appreciate the world around. He has been to every continent except Antarctica. In the past year, he visited the Middle East for Umrah and Ziarat, Louisiana and Tenessee for the food, and NYC many times to see Rumpa. He hopes to travel to many more places with his future wife.
Rafique & Lucky
Parents of the Bride
Rafique and Lucky started the biggest adventure of their life when they took their four young children and moved to the USA in their 30s. They have always been two hardworking parents who have devoted their lives to providing for their children, instilling values of perseverance and love. Rafique had worked tirelessly getting up at 4 am in the morning, 6 days a week to travel to NJ for work. He had decided not to move closer to work in NJ just so that Rumpa's education was not disrupted in NYC. He continued the crazy commute and never once thought otherwise. Lucky has equally invested deeply into caring for her children. She would cook food that Rumpa likes and send it so that Rumpa had a little bit of home while away at school and in residency. Rumpa cherishes her mother's cooking. Despite working 6 days a week, Lucky always made effort to cook a huge meal on Sundays for their weekly family gatherings. She is excited to have Suhail be part of these gatherings and to enjoy the food. They are ecstatic that Rumpa has finally found her other half.
Firoz and Fareeda
Parents of the Groom
Firoz and Fareeda were both in the same class in college but only realized it after their engagement. They started their lives in Mumbai, lived in Dubai, and now their home is in the USA. Their biggest joy and challenge in their lives has been their son, Suhail, of whom they are very proud of. They are thrilled to welcome Rumpa into their lives who complements Suhail perfectly. From their first meeting, it has felt like she has always been a part of their family. Firoz and Fareeda are always game for an adventure and love discovering new places, food, meeting new people, and making friends. They just came back from a trip to Spain where they enjoyed the warm weather while taking in the amazing architecture. They love listening to music especially Ghazals which are their favorites. They also enjoy reading and watching movies. While Fareeda may forget exactly which movies they have watched, Firoz is always there to remind her. Firoz loves his Clint Eastwood movies. They can't wait to share these experiences with Rumpa.
Rupok
The Bride's Big Bro
Rupok is the perfect older brother. He is a family-oriented person, known for his reliability, dedication and unwavering support. As a big brother, he helped Rumpa in many ways from advising her during her first car accident to jump starting her car two days in row just last year. He makes time to serve his country through the Air Force while working full time and running a business. Somehow he finds a way to balance his work life and military duties with his commitment to his loved ones. He is excited for the union of Suhail and Rumpa, especially because now Suhail can help with her numerous car concerns.
Rakib
Bride's Younger Bro
Rakib is Rumpa's younger brother, standing at a towering 186 centimeters. But don't let his stature fool you - he is a gentle giant. As the youngest in the family, he naturally thinks himself the wisest. He and Rumpa share a special bond, having grown up together watching Saturday morning cartoons. Rumpa goes to battle for her brother, such as fighting off teenagers picking on her brother during a park adventure. Rakib has equally supported Rumpa in whatever capacity she needs including carrying heavy loads and driving her to airports. He loves to play chess with anyone, but mostly his beloved nephew and niece. His passion is the sport of wrestling, where he dedicates his energy into teaching inner city youth. His dedication has produced multiple NYC champions and helped them earn scholarships for college. He is excited for his sister and future brother-in-law and wishes them the best.
Ripa & Imtiaz
Sister and Brother-in-law of the Bride
Ripa and Imtiaz are college sweethearts who both wear many hats. Ripa is the golden child, embodying many roles with grace - a sister, daughter, loving mother, and devoted wife. Her friends call her "Superwoman”. Always radiant, vibrant, and full of energy, she manages her many responsibilities effortlessly. In addition to above, she is as an electrical engineering manager, ensuring that the lights stay on in the Northeast. She undeniably lights up everyone fortunate enough to know her. Since Rumpa's birth, Ripa has dressing her like a doll and planning her wedding. Ripa saw her sister as her greatest joy during childhood. It has been a privilege watching her sister grow into this extraordinary person. Seeing Rumpa find true love fills her heart with emotions beyond words. Ripa and Imtiaz weathered all the difficulties of him becoming a doctor. Like Ripa, he too wears many hats. Being an accomplished attending physician is just one. But his true calling— or so he claims — is as a financial advisor, and he has definitely guided Rumpa in that manner. He is also a sports enthusiast to the core - there isn’t a single game he doesn’t enjoy watching. After a grueling 12-hour shift, he is still glued to the TV for hours watching cricket or any other sports. While he has held a special place in the family as the *only* “son-in-law” for many years, he is excited to share the spotlight and the affection with Suhail.
Yafi
The Energetic Nephew
Yafi is now 11 years old and Rumpa has witnessed and assisted at his birth. Since then, he has held a special role in her heart. Yafi is a bundle of energy and curiosity. He loves exploring new interests, whether it's learning about astronomy, Greek mythology or mastering the latest video games. He loves sharing his enthusiasm with his aunt even if it makes him super late for bedtime. Yafi's enthusiasm for learning and his playful spirit bring joy to everyone around him. He's excited to see his aunt marry the love of her life.
Inaaya
The Protege Niece
Inaaya, our 8-year-old, has a personality that lights up any room. Known for her sass, smarts, caring, and intelligence, she always has a clever comeback and a twinkle in her eye. Inaaya has a deeply caring heart. Even at the young age of 3, she showed her aunt the meaning of kindness. She is the first to offer help when someone is in need. She is thoughtful in everything she does. Inaaya’s curiosity knows no bounds, and her spirited nature and sharp mind make her truly one-of-a-kind. She brings joy and love to every moment and her caring nature brings light to all whom she meets. She has a keen sense of fashion and photography. She frequently gives her aunt recommendations on how to pose. She's filled with excitement about celebrating her aunt’s special day.
