Their story began in a gospel virtual meeting, guided quietly by faith. Fena was facilitating the study when, one Thursday, a young man caught her attention. Wearing a blue shirt, he faithfully and thoughtfully answered questions about the plan of salvation. Though his long explanations tested her patience at first, that moment would later become part of a much greater plan. She soon learned they were in the same batch in Missionary Training Center What caught her heart most was a small figurine from the anime My Hero Academia. In that simple detail, a gentle prompting came—one that felt both surprising and peaceful. Filled with joy, she called her sister and said, “I think this is the man I will marry.” In September 2021, they were placed in the same district at the Virtual Missionary Training Center in the Philippines—the AMOS District. Though they rarely spoke during meetings, Fena admired his love for the gospel and his ability to teach doctrine with clarity and conviction. A year later, in September 2022, while both were faithfully serving as missionaries, Elder Busania reached out through an email. He was serving in the Philippines Davao Mission, while Fena was serving in the Philippines Cagayan de Oro Mission. His message spoke of investigators, miracles, and God’s hand in the work. Fena replied with questions about teaching and leadership, and she was deeply impressed by his devotion and spiritual maturity. For three months, they exchanged emails—only on Mondays, in obedience to missionary standards. Each message became a quiet blessing, something Fena looked forward to each week. Their communication remained simple, faithful, and centered on their service to the Lord. After Elder Busania completed his mission, a beautiful act of faith followed. One month later, he baked banana bread, met Fena’s Father, and respectfully asked her father for his blessing and permission to court her. Remarkably, they had never met in person. Their only connection had been through the Virtual MTC—meaning he met her father before he ever met her. On October 29, 2023, a warm Sunday filled with quiet miracles, Fena was preparing for church when she opened the door to see a familiar face holding a bouquet of flowers. It was Hyrum. That day, she also met his parents, who had traveled nearly ten hours to be there. On that same day, October 29, 2023, they officially began their journey together. From the beginning, their relationship was rooted in shared faith and shared goals. They both desired to study at Brigham Young University–Hawaiʻi. Fena was admitted first in Winter 2024, leading them into a season of long-distance love. Technology helped them stay connected, but prayer and weekly scripture study every Sunday strengthened their bond even more. They patiently trusted the Lord’s timing, and in Spring 2025, Hyrum’s admission became another answered prayer. On December 14, 2025, surrounded by gratitude and faith, they took the next step in their journey—they got engaged.
