Ready for your first rodeo?? Our wedding is happening in the most exciting time of year in Fort Worth. The best cowboys and cowgirls, bull riders, and stock showers travel from near and far to compete in the legendary FW Stock Show & Rodeo. This is no Austin rodeo- it's one of the largest and most prestigious stock show & rodeo events in the US! While you might not be able to attend the main event on Saturday evening, you can certainly stop by the carnival fair at any time outside of our weekend's events. You can also view the stock show animals (horses, pigs, goats, rabbits, & more) at anytime as well. You might even opt to spend your Friday evening at Dickies Arena for the actual Rodeo, and join us at the welcome party afterward! Growing up in Fort Worth, this was one of Amanda’s favorite traditions—and it became even more special when she and Henry attended together, creating one of their favorite memories as Henry experienced his very first rodeo.
A local Fort Worth favorite for tex mex and strong margs. Situated conveniently in the Stockyards, near Hotel Drover. Please note, this restaurant only accepts cash! There is an ATM on site. No reservations, and don't be discouraged by the line outside. Margaritas can be ordered while you wait, and the restaurant is massive, so the line usually moves quickly. But get there early as it will likely be filled with rodeo-goers this time of year!
A vibrant, health-focused restaurant located in the WestBend shopping center along the scenic Trinity River, HG Sply Co offers a spacious, partially covered patio with views of the river and the Fort Worth Zoo. This is a Fort Worth favorite for lunch, dinner, or drinks, and is right by the University Park Village for shopping.
Every day at at 11:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., there is a twice-daily reenactment of the historic cattle drives that once defined the city’s identity as “Cowtown" (For my non-Texans, yes, this is a massive group of cows running through the street). The Fort Worth Herd is a group of Texas Longhorns, each representing the types of cattle that were driven along the Chisholm Trail in the late 1800s. Led by real cowhands in period-accurate gear, the drive recreates the sights, sounds, and feel of the Old West. This is just a fun sight to see while grabbing a drink in the area or walking around the Stockyards!
Billy Bob's Texas is a legendary country music nightclub located in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards. Often billed as "The World's Largest Honky Tonk," it offers nightly performances by top country and classic rock artists, along with a massive dance floor for two-stepping and line dancing. On weekends, visitors can watch real bull riding in an authentic dirt arena—no mechanical bulls here. You can also see the Wall of Fame: A tribute to musical legends, featuring handprints from stars like Willie Nelson and Garth Brooks. Seeing the Casey Donahew Band here is one of Henry & Amanda's favorite memories.
The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth is Texas’s oldest art museum, founded in 1892. Located in Fort Worth’s Cultural District, it stands as a premier institution for modern and contemporary art.
