It's a funny story - We actually matched on Tinder (yes, we know). The weekend we matched, I (Katie) was supposed to be out of town, but my plans fell through at the last minute; So, I decided to stay in for the weekend. That same weekend, Sam accepted an impromptu invitation for a spontaneous trip to Nashville for a friend's birthday. My old Bowling Green apartment was right next to I-65, which you have to take to get from Louisville to Nashville, and we matched as Sam passed my apartment during his ride down to Nash. The crazy thing is that my distance-of-interest radius was set at 15 miles - In other words, if I hadn't been home due to canceled plans, and he hadn't passed my apartment when he did, we never would've met. We went on our first date a few weeks later, spent 6+ hours talking in my car after our dinner at Chuy's, and Sam says he knew that night I was the woman he was going to marry... It turns out there are a lot of little reasons why the big things in our lives happen <33
Sam and I are mountain people, so (naturally) one of our favorite places to be together is in the Smoky Mountains. This trip started like any other trip of ours: arcades, moonshine, and the Skylift. For those who have been, I think we can all agree that one of the greatest views in the Smokies is from the Skylift in Gatlinburg - you're so high up, you're basically in the clouds. Sam proposed with those gorgeous, scenic views behind us and with the most breathtaking ring. We celebrated with Auntie Anne's pretzels, arcade-style Mario Kart, and more moonshine. It was magical.
Sam and I are mountain people, remember? So, of course, we are getting married in the Smoky Mountains at The Lodge at Brothers Cove. We are unbelievably happy to invite you to the celebration of the next chapter of our life together. See you in the Smokies!
