Lexi & Joey started off as medical school classmates. Some may ask was it love at first sight? The first time Joey and Lexi met was at a famous Klein house party after Lexi celebrated her birthday in Napa. Beyond discovering they were neighbors both living off of Mare Island nothing much came of the interaction. Over the next few months they began hanging out more frequently always as friends. This was covid times and when it was time for our medical school to determine our small groups to break up into, it was a surprise to Lexi that she was placed in a group with Joey and his roommates despite her not identifying Joey or his roommates to the medical school as potential close contacts. This was Joey's first move, subtle but meticulous and the first step to where they are now. Joey's second move was more direct. He showed up with popsicles one day to Lexi's house and told her he liked her. This was quite the shock to Lexi since Joey was so far in the friends zone she had to take some time to think about it. We'll save the cliff hanger considering we are celebrating Lexi and Joey's wedding! Joey then followed Lexi to beautiful Bakersfield. Fast forward, both accomplished so much and matched into Orthopedic Surgery and Pediatrics Residency Programs. Joey began living in Riverside and Lexi in Los Angeles. Living separately has been challenging, but both have found a way to spend time despite the long work hours and demands of being residents. When it was time to propose, Joey planned a beautiful weekend in Santa Barbara where both families would be there to celebrate. To his surprise, wild fires would break out across all of Southern California in January blocking the drive up to Santa Barbara. He had the choice to wait and try again another time, but he was eager and determined. He successfully planned a second engagement with one days notice in Temecula. As Lexi and Joey arrived to their Temecula Villa, Joey looked around and decided this was the place, it was perfect. He poured two glasses of wine and called Lexi out to the patio. Looking out into the vineyards he got down on one knee.
