It wasn’t the perfect first date — but it was perfectly us. What was supposed to be a nice dinner and a fun round of mini golf quickly turned into a comedy of errors. The restaurant we wanted to go to was fully booked (my bad for not making a reservation), so we pivoted to a local bar and grill instead. Still, between the laughs and easy conversation, it already felt like something special. Then came mini golf… or at least, that was the plan. When we got there, the course was packed, so we decided to skip it and make our own fun. We found a basketball court near Jess’s house and played a game of HORSE — missing most of our shots but laughing the entire time. It wasn’t fancy or flawless, but it was real. And by the end of that night, neither of us wanted it to be over. That’s when we knew — if we could turn a “failed” date into one of our favorite memories, we’d probably make a pretty great team for life.
