Our story began in the fall of 2016 at LAC+USC Medical Center, where we both worked as nurses in the ICU. One evening, Faye’s best friend, Elline, invited her to dinner after work with a coworker everyone knew as “the guy with the hair.” That coworker was Justin. Little did Faye know that the man behind the famous hair would one day become her future husband. Our first impressions couldn’t have been more different. Justin thought Faye was so quiet that he wondered if she even spoke English. Faye’s first impression of Justin? He talked way too much. Apparently, opposites do attract. What started as a casual dinner turned into a friendship, and before long, friendship turned into love. We spent the next few months exploring museums, discovering new restaurants, attending pop-ups, and finding any excuse to spend time together around Los Angeles. In July 2017, we took our first trip together to San Francisco, where Faye grew up. What started as a weekend getaway became the beginning of a shared love for travel and adventure. Over the years, we’ve explored new cities, experienced different cultures, stood before some of the world’s most incredible wonders, and created memories we’ll cherish forever. Along the way, we supported each other through graduate school and celebrated one of our proudest accomplishments—becoming Nurse Practitioners. When it came time to propose, Justin knew it had to happen in San Francisco. Eight years after our first trip together, he brought us back to the city where it all began. Surrounded by Faye’s family and closest friends at Twin Peaks, one of her favorite places in the city, Justin—who is notoriously never nervous—suddenly froze. Somehow, he found the courage to get down on one knee and pop the question. Faye’s answer wasn’t “yes.” It was, “Duhhh!” Now, surrounded by the family and friends who have been part of our journey, we’re excited to begin our greatest adventure yet—as husband and wife.
