Our Love Story

For two years, Faustine and Mike lived as college neighbors on Greek row at the University of Idaho, sharing friends and spaces, yet never meeting. Only when they were seniors, living off-campus in the fall of 2019, did their paths finally cross over a casual game of cards in a friend's college apartment. Mike’s plan to stop by for a quick study break went out the window, as he found himself captivated by Faustine’s laugh, smile, and joyful presence. For Faustine, the connection was instant too. She fell for Mike’s charm and humor and was swept away by how easy he made conversation. For the next several months, they thought about the innocent interaction, asking after each other to mutual friends and looking each other up online. Ever the feminist, Mike allowed Faustine to make the first move. The two began messaging over Twitter and sharing their humor as they developed a friendship. Fate thankfully intervened, ensuring the two serendipitously met – over and over again - until they could no longer deny the connection forming. The college town that seemed so big before they met, became suspiciously small as they kept running into each other - at the gym, in the library, at the beloved Corner Club when their club card numbers were drawn on the same day, at fraternity and sorority functions, and in line for a drink in downtown Boise over Thanksgiving break. Finally, their love story unfolded in the most unsuspecting of places, and on a day not known for bringing good luck: the Corner Club of Moscow, Idaho on Friday, December 13th, 2019, when they were hired on the same day. The rest, they say, is history. They survived COVID together, grew into functioning adults together, and only fell more in love as the years passed. After moving in together in Boise, Mike supported Faustine through three grueling years of law school. The couple faced insurmountable tragedy in February of 2024, when Faustine’s brother Ben unexpectedly passed away. In the face of grief, the two took in Buck, Ben’s German shepherd. Buck has brought the two purpose and joy, and is an essential part of their family and story. On March 21, 2025, Mike proposed to Faustine on the shores of Payette Lake in McCall, Idaho, surrounded by their best friends. In the summer of 2025, the couple became homeowners and earned the title of aunt & uncle. Throughout Faustine and Mike’s story, they have been strangers, neighbors, friends, co-workers, significant others, roommates, fiancés, homeowners, and most importantly, best friends. On June 20, 2026, they will add the title of husband and wife in a love filled celebration in McCall, Idaho.
