During their senior year at Rutgers, Ashley & Steve found themselves at the same event: Canoe Battleship. Steve was running the event with Recreation, and Ashley was participating with friends. One of her teammates asked a staff members she knew to take their photo, and, you guess it, it was Steve. Immediately after, Ashley asked the friend who he was and decided there was no harm in adding him on instagram. Fast forward 2 years. Steve posts a throwback song ("Love, Sex, Riot" by Issues) on his instagram story that Ashley could not resist replying to. The DMs continued, and it became clear a spark was forming. They both soon realized they had an unexpected mutual friend and each immediately asked him about the other. With a good word in from Mr. Jake Nicol, the first date was scheduled. Ashley and Steve's first few dates averaged ~4 hours each and they were the last ones to be kicked out of the restaurants more than once. They both knew that this was connection neither of them had ever had before. Despite both of them going through major life events at that time, they knew they wanted to do it together, and that loyalty has never wavered. After 7 years of being together, a dog, and a house, it's finally time to get the government involved.
