We met on a random day sometime in Fall 2020. It was my senior year of college, and my best friend and I had a super budget-unfriendly habit of going to Starbucks each morning. Little did I know that I would meet my soon-to-be husband there, and that he'd be the one making my drink order (ask Gavin, I don't even remember it). I'll never forget when I first saw him, and he quickly earned the nickname "Barista Bae" among my friends and I. Every morning began with a prayer that he would be working that day in hopes that I would get to talk to him. I have to mention that Gavin was really into showing off for me, flipping bottles of caramel or vanilla syrup just to get my attention. It worked, I've never been more impressed. I will admit, at least on my end, that nerves were high, and I was hopelessly awkward, so our love story was definitely a slow-burn. It was then catapulted forward when my best friend (thank you, Grey!) told Gavin I thought he was cute, and he gave her his number to give to me. The rest is history, and I'm still waiting for Starbucks to sponsor this wedding. - Audrey
For our first date, we decided that going on a strenuous hike would be most appropriate (pretty sure it was Gavin's idea). I had done this hike before, and I knew what to expect, especially because I hadn't seen the inside of a gym in probably over a year. We decided to meet there, and I excitedly exited the car to meet my future husband, only to stop in my tracks at what he was wearing. Personally, I wore a matching workout set trying to make myself look more in-shape than I was. Gavin went the more casual route, opting for workout shorts and.... wait for it.....a short sleeved button-down shirt (apparently it's the best workout attire). Am I the only one who finds this strange? Either way, I was worried that he may be odd because of this, but continued on the hike anyway, and I'm so glad I did. We had many memorable conversations on this hike, ranging from what animals we think we could beat in a fight, our future career aspirations, and what our families are like. After the hike, we stopped at a fruit stand by the Pacific Coast Highway, and Gavin asked if I would like to continue our time together and go to the beach. I said I couldn't and that I had to go to work (I was off that day, sorry Gav). I know, lying is bad! I panicked because the date had been going so well, and I was excited to tell my friends about how awesome he is. So, I went home, and we proceeded to grow closer on each following date, and here we are! Maybe the button-down was a good move after all. - Audrey
What's good, y'all. I'm here to tell the 4 people that read the website about the proposal story! Brownie points if you've heard it already, but now you get to read it again. When setting up for the proposal, I really only had one goal: make sure Sherlock Holmes over here had no idea what was going on. With that in mind, I knew I couldn't be too flashy. So I cancelled my hot air balloon/Nobu reservations and opted for some more low-key scenery. With the help of my wonderful mother, I procured the supplies for a lavish picnic. I asked Audrey out for a lunch date to celebrate the completion of her Master's program (perfect decoy, I know), and suggested we go to a local park. Snoopy was still clueless. We began our lunch and enjoyed the weather and the company until I had mentally prepared myself to give the single most important sales pitch of my life. It wasn't very long, but it was meaningful and conveyed how excited I am to spend my life with the most amazing woman I've ever been graced with knowing. Come to find out, she didn't hear a single word of it. After hearing my Shakespearian declaration of love, she proceeded to say "Wait, what?" 3 times, shortly followed by an ecstatic yes. We took some lovely pictures, courtesy of my buddy Ethan (thanks big dawg), and enjoyed the rest of our scenic lunch; during which she asked me to repeat the speech that she accidentally did not listen to. And with that, my days of espionage were over, and I got to retire with a 100% mission success rate. Hall of fame stuff right there. - Gavin
