FAQs

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

Please see the Travel page for recommendations. We’ve reserved a hotel block at The Blackstone Hotel and The Congress Plaza. Bonus: both are walking distance from the reception so your journey from cocktails to dance floor will be nice and easy.

Question

What's the dress code?

Answer

Formal/ Black tie optional. Suit and tie if you’re keeping it classic, tux optional if you’re feeling fancy. For the ladies, we’d love to see long dresses to keep the vibe elegant but a chic cocktail looks works too. Most importantly, wear something you can dance in! For the rehearsal dinner, dressy casual. Think casual dress, collared shirt and slack or sport coat. We recommend bringing a sweater as evening temps drop around the lake.

Question

Which church is the ceremony at?

Answer

Our ceremony will take place at Holy Resurrection Coptic Orthodox Church in Burr Ridge. Note: The church shares an address and campus with St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church. After pulling into the shared campus with St. Mark, continue past the main St. Mark building and follow the drive toward the back/right side of the property. Holy Resurrection is a separate building just past the circle drive —please look for signage and ushers to guide you.

Question

What time should I arrive?

Answer

We recommend arriving at Holy Resurrection Church at 1:00pm to grab a seat and settle in. The ceremony will start promptly at 1:30pm. The reception will kick off at 5:30pm with cocktail hour at in the Art Hall at The Blackstone.

Question

Can I park at the church?

Answer

There's a large parking lot at St. Mark & Holy Resurrection. There are two churches at this address. We will be at the church further towards the back when you drive it. Park near the circle drive.

Question

Will transportation be provided?

Answer

There will be a shuttle bus from The Blackstone Hotel to the church and back. The bus will depart at 12:15pm sharp from The Blackstone. Please contact Marie Anderson if you are interested in taking the shuttle. Alternatively, we recommend driving to the ceremony or using ride share like Uber and Lyft.

Question

What's the best way to get around Chicago?

Answer

The ceremony and hotels offer parking; we recommend using SpotHero for discounted parking lots. For exploring the city, the "L" elevated train is a great way to get around. For the less transit inclined, it's easy to get an Uber, Lyft, or taxi. If you're feeling adventurous, rent a Divvy Scooter or E-Bike on the Lyft app.

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

We love your little ones, but our wedding will be an adults-only celebration.

Question

What's on the menu?

Answer

We promise—you will not leave hungry. Expect cocktails, dinner, dessert, and drinks that keep flowing all night. Kindly RSVP with your meal preference. If you have dietary needs, let us know and we’ll take care of you.
