Nicole's friend had known the Finley family from church and knew when she met DJ that they would one day be together. They were both unapologetically themselves, with incredible humor and wisdom. For about two years, the timing didn't work out until the friend texted DJ from Nicole's phone with a simple message. The next day, the two agreed to meet for a trip to Knott's Scary Farm, along with DJ's sister. As it turns out, they still enjoy one another. Their life together is full of joy and laughter, with a whole lot of attitude thrown in.

As many of you know, Disneyland is among Nicole's favorite places. So when it came time for DJ to plan the perfect proposal, he knew he'd have to start with the D. DJ recruited a few of Nicole's close friends, and had one of them suggest an "impromptu" trip to Disneyland. Of course Nicole said yes, and off they went. Through a series of perfectly-timed events and sneaky text messages, Nicole and her friend ended up at the Haunted Mansion (for the second time that day, which didn't bother Nicole at all). Her friend asked a Disneyland employee (cast member) if they could see the pet cemetery. The cast member agreed, and guided the ladies around the building to a set of doors. When the doors opened, DJ was standing inside. He proposed, she consented, and the cast members cheered. They had a few other surprises for the newly-engaged couple, including a private ride on the Haunted Mansion ride. Well done, DJ.
