As most of you know, Connor and I met in undergrad at Slippery Rock University. We both worked as RA's in residence life. Every summer we went back to school 2 weeks early for RA training. Through the course of the two weeks of training we were able to interact with RA's from other buildings. The summer favorite this year in RA training was playing Volleyball. For those of you who don't know me...I was a gymnast my entire life up to this point...volleyball was not my forte. I played anyway. The game was Building A versus Watson Hall (you guessed it...me versus Connor's building). The ball was hit in my direction, terrified I would miss it I went for the ball anyway, but so did my 6ft tall 250pound coworker Lorenz.....and the next thing I know I was flat out on the ground. We all got a good laugh out of it and I was fine, but no this was not the romantic part where Connor comes over and sweeps me off my feet...he was laughing on the other side of the court. In November, a couple of my co-workers and I were heading to go shopping for a res life social were were planning. One of the RA's from Watson Hall, Connor, was going to come with us. We shopped all day and the last stop was the grocery store. Jess and Alex our friends had to quickly run inside, so Connor and I chose to stay in the car and wait. Connor and I sat in the car in dead silence for what felt like at least 5 minutes. I was sitting in the back seat and Connor in the front. We made eye contact in the rearview mirror when Connor abruptly asked me "So you've been in a relationship for a long time, so tell me, what is the secret to love?" I sat there mumbling something and eventually just said "I don't know, I guess you know it when you know it". At this point I was in a relationship for 4.5 years...and I had no idea the answer to what Connor asked me. As fate would have it...my relationship ended a week later. The rest is history.
