Aria and Roger first crossed paths as members of the men’s and women’s tennis teams at Howard University in January 2018. Their connection truly began, however, when Roger found himself struggling in a psychology class and turned to Aria for help. He then started to ask for help more frequently and in repayment, offered to buy her food and take her on ice cream dates. Food, especially ice cream, being the primary way to Aria’s heart, she immediately had a liking for Roger. But little did Roger know, Aria had already had a crush on him for some time. Up until that point in her life, she had never met someone so chivalrous and caring, and someone who carried such positivity despite going through so much himself. It took a little while for them to fully realize they both liked each other.. i.e many (many) study dates, at times other people got in the way, and much more, but eventually they had their first real date to see the Silent Place Movie at Regal China Town in DC in April 2018. Two months later, Aria flew to Jamaica to meet Roger’s family — and the rest, as they say, was history.
