An unknown author penned the hymn "How Firm A Foundation". On Reformation Sunday, October 29, 2017, Thomas and Rachel spoke for the very first time, and from that day Thomas decided to lay a foundation of his own. Nearly one year later on October 14, 2018 Thomas bumped into Rachel walking into church. Rachel thought this was a chance encounter, however for Thomas this moment had been a year in the making. Both Thomas and Rachel were running late for church that morning. Rachel had just returned from a week long mission trip and Thomas eagerly desired to speak with her. He saw her from far off and knew this was his opportunity. So his brisk walk quickly turned into a sprint as Rachel was making haste towards the door. Rachel heard someone running behind her so she stopped to look back but Thomas quickly composed himself. The two of them talked for a few moments, and through shaky hands and a quivering voice, Thomas asked Rachel to lunch. Rachel smiled and agreed with delight. From that day the two of them grew in friendship, pursuit of Christlikeness, and love. 6 months later through those same shaky hands, Thomas built upon that foundation and asked Rachel for her hand in marriage. Through tears Rachel smiled and agreed with even more delight. And so began their journey to matrimony. Come join us as we celebrate this precious gift from the Lord!
