Bumble Does Work

Scrolling though the endless people on Bumble, hoping to find a connection. On August 6, 2020, we finally found someone funny, caring, and down for an adventure. Our first date was the most unexpected and we went all over town. Bath and Body Works, Boba, Buc-ees, and to get cookies. From then we were hooked. On October 20, 2020, we had a Halloween painting date and Josh asked Ka-Lea to be his girlfriend. Of course, she said yes.

The Proposal

We were on our way for our first couple's photoshoot, we were both nervous and excited at the same time. We spent the majority of the day getting ready. Ka-Lea looked so beautiful and all I could think about was, "How do I propose and not screw it up?". The original plan was to propose in front of the photographer, so she could capture the moment. As we arrived at our photoshoot location, we noticed it was popping. A lot of interesting things were taking place, and I instantly came to the conclusion that this was not how I wanted it to go. After the photoshoot we were both starving and stopped at Olive Garden, our favorite restaurant at the time. We pulled into the parking lot, and she started taking off her boob tape. I was freaking out in my head. I kept thinking over and over, "How am I going to propose?!" She looked so perfect, almost like it was her golden hour. She rolled her tape into a ball and asked if she could hit me with her ball of tape. Instantly I pulled out the ring and said, "No you can't, but you can marry me instead?". She started tearing up and said yes!

Josh's Favorite Memory

Luminova was our first event together. It is a Christmas light walk through at the Ranger’s Stadium. I saw Ka-Lea walking through all the gorgeous lights and colors while we were cracking up and flirting. It was just an amazing time being together and all I could think was about how beautiful she is and that I am so in love! At the time, we had only been dating a few short months and I was not sure what I had gotten into, but I knew I was head over heels for her. June 2023 was our first out of state vacation as a couple and we went to Las Vegas. From start to finish, I can say without a doubt Vegas was a blast. I was lucky enough to share all these new experiences and places with my best friend. Ka-Lea made the trip memorable, and it wouldn’t have been as fun without her. I remember when we were sitting at our hotel playing digital Roulette in the casino. We sat at the machine together and played for a couple of hours at least. It was a time to remember. Last minute we decided to go to the State Fair of Texas, and it was worth it. Of course, both of us have been to the State Fair before and tried all the foods. This year we decided to switch things up. We tried some of the new yearly foods, played so many carnival games, and rode some rides. We got lost in our own little world having all the fun we could. The whole experience reminded me that we are still kids at heart and life can be more fun with the love of my life by my side.

Ka-Lea's Favorite Memory

There are so many memories we have made in three years. Many that should not be shared on a public website to embarrass ourselves. Today (2/10/2024) was probably the memory I will keep with me forever. While out shopping for engagement photo outfits, Josh wore this white button up shirt with dark blue jeans and I fell in love all over again. I started tearing up in a Boot Barn and realized I am truly marrying the love of my life and that he is SO HANDSOME!! However, I think my favorite memories are not the big events in our lives, but all the times that I have come home from a hard day of teaching and Josh was there with open arms waiting for all the tea. He listens to everything and becomes invested in things that I love. In 2023, I came home from work during Teacher Appreication week, and he had gone out of his way to get me flowers and a card to show me how proud he is that I am trying my best in the job I have always wanted. It made me feel so appreciated that he truly sees and acknowledges the hard work that I put into my career. An honorable mention is when we decided to go to Winstar the Wednesday night before our first Thanksgiving together because I found a random free room coupon while cleaning. We stayed up so late driving to Oklahoma and gambling until 2 AM. The next morning on our way home, we realized we needed to go to the grocery store to be able to make mac and cheese. Every single store we passed was empty and closed, so we panicked a little bit. We got home and started searching for cheese. We found the single Velvetta cubes in the pantry and hoped it would be enough. Thankfully, it was plenty, and the mac and cheese was delicious! We still randomly bring it up and joke about going to the store first, so we are ready for the next day.
