Our Story

Her Side

Rob and I first met at an athletic training org meeting where I complemented him on his shirt (He doesn't remember that. Go figure, right?). A few weeks later, we went to a basketball game with a group of mutual friends. I came home that night and told my roommate, Halie, that I wanted to end up with a guy like Rob someday. Just a nice, funny, smart guy. Was that too much to ask for? Barely knowing him, I recruited Rob for a summer job as a camp counselor so I could get my $40 recruiting incentive. I never got my money, but I guess I got a husband. After that summer, we became best friends. For years we swore up and down that we were nothing more than friends. Friends that would hang out every day, talk for countless hours on the phone, and tell each other absolutely everything. We were inseparable. Just when all of our friends had come to terms with the fact that we would never be more than friends, we realized our friendship held more than we originally thought. Rob asked me out on a date, bribing me with tacos and ice cream to be his girlfriend. Obviously, I'm not above bribery because here I am, still accepting taco and ice cream bribes. But with a ring on my finger.

Our Story

His Side

Christine asked if I wanted to be a counselor at this summer camp called CG Victory. Not having anything better to do in my summer, I applied. We worked together that whole summer, and then we both worked with Texas football in the Fall. We easily became inseparable best friends. The next summer, she worked in Austin and I in Dallas, but that did not stop us from calling each other daily just to talk. When we were both in Austin at the summer's end, it seemed as if something had finally clicked in us and we starting dating on the morning of a Texas football Saturday. I had always said that I wanted my wife to be my best friend. That's such an easy thing to say. It happens in movies, TV shows, and songs all the time, but that doesn't stop me from feeling completely blessed that I found Christine. I was looking for a wife to be my best friend, and I can't believe it took me so long to look at my best friend and see my wife.
