Things To Do

Especially to our (first time) non-Malawian/out of town guests, TAKULANDIRANI (WELCOME)! We hope you can enjoy a bit of Blantyre and the surrounding areas while you're here! Below are a few of our recommendations (some might require a bit of a drive but are absolutely worth it) should you wish to indulge in some tourist behavior, if your schedules allow!

Game Haven Lodge

Chigumula, Southern Region, Malawi

Enjoy a sit-down meal away from the bustling city or indulge in a guided walk around the forest, some bike riding along the forest trails, or a game drive to get up close and personal with some wildlife!

Makoli

Bvumbwe, Thyolo, Southern Region, Malawi

Treat yourself to a luxurious farm-to-table dining experience at Makoli, one of our places to be!

Khomo la coffee

Chimwankhunda, Blantyre, Southern Region, Malawi

A little, quaint treehouse you can visit for some relaxation, a date, or a little game afternoon with folks! Reservations are recommended since it's a small space.

Mango Talaat

Victoria Avenue, Blantyre, Southern Region, Malawi

Some context for our non-Malawian guests... Mango Talaat is probably one of the best things to happen to Malawi! Visit them to enjoy a fresh fruit smoothie or juice, fresh fruit juice floats and more!

Mount Soche - Vincent's Restaurant

28 Glyn Jones Rd, Blantyre, Malawi

Also for our non-Malawian guests, enjoy some local or continental cuisine at one of Blantyre's fancy sit down locations. The bride recommends the Tilapia stew, masamba otedendera (local organic greens cooked in a delicate, creamy peanut sauce), and nsima for the adventurous. Or anything steak and grilled if you're not keen on shocking your tastebuds, as recommended by the groom. Bon Appétit!

Zomba

Southern Region, Malawi

A personal favorite of both the bride and groom, Zomba district is located an hour or so drive from Blantyre City. This quaint, lusciously green, ex (and first) capital city of Malawi is home to the beautiful Zomba botanical garden, Sunbird Ku Chawe which is located on a plateau and offers some breathtaking views of the city, and fun restaurants and cafe's such as Kefi (a crowd favorite), and Casa Rossa. Weather permitting, enjoy some horseback riding as well at the Plateau Stables!

The Thyolo House

Thyolo, Southern Region, Malawi

Indulge in a mini getaway at the charming Thyolo House, located about 30-40 minutes away from Blantyre City. Surrounded by tea fields and some forestry, the lodge/restaurant offers some tasty meals and a stunning view of Mount Mulanje. It's a treat!

21 Grill Restaurant

2 Hanover Avenue, Blantyre, Southern Region, Malawi

Just gotta love the 21 Grill! This is where Faith and Ndondwa had their second ever dinner date and it's been a "family favorite" since! Their steaks are scrumptious and their veggies are fresh and yummy! Be sure to ask if your steak is served table side (you'll understand why...)
