How We Met

The Setup.................... December 27, 2017

Faith- We met at work at the Marcus Autism Center. I was actually there to begin my Practicum Experience and Marcus's treatment team was the first one that I was assigned to observe during my training. He was a Clinical Specialist and I was an Intern. The first thing I noticed about him was how awesome he was at interacting with his client. He was so cool, calm and patient with her, even in the midst of dealing with her challenging behaviors. I remember thinking to myself..... this guy is going to be a GREAT dad someday. So after the clients went home for the day, we ended up talking and a few minutes turned into a few hours. Before I left, he mentioned that a bunch of people from work were planning to go to the movies to see "Red Tails: and that I should come. So I gave him my number so that he could give me the details of the meet up. Well, what I didn't know was I had been bamboozled....... There was never a group meet up, he took me on a solo outing to the movies....... and the rest is history! That was the best okie doke I have ever had pulled on me and we live happily ever after. [P.S. Marcus will tell the story differently, but don't believe the hype, his story is #ALTERNATIVEFACTS :-) ] Marcus- Well she skipped out on a few details but the first part is correct. I noticed how friendly she was and inquisitive about case, so she had my attention. The part that she didn't mention was that she used stay after her internship ended for the day. She used to say it was to talk to everyone. I knew better though. As a group we planned to see the movie she mentioned. I had every intention of it being a group setting. As I spoke to her one on one, I noticed her body language was different towards me. I felt those vibes so I asked her for her number. When I asked her, she looked at me like bout time you asked. I think she was plotting on me the whole time. She is good at wanting something to happen and preparing for it without people knowing. haha.

The Proposal

God Said Now!

I had asked God to let me know when it was time. It was 5 days before Christmas and this would be my last chance for my plan to work. I walked into the jewelry store hoping but not knowing. A very kind and patient sales associate held my hand throughout the process as I was both nervous and inexperienced. With the help of the great sales associate, I purchased a ring that i felt God wanted us to have. A couple of days before Christmas, I arranged to speak with her mother and father to ask for their blessing in marrying their daughter. I will admit that I was nervous, but not because I thought they would say no but because as a father, I had to realize what I was actually asking him. They both gave their blessing in their own special way. I then had to speak with my Mom and Dad. My mom was excited and requested that she be present before I propose. My Dad was happy and let it be known that it was about time, which I understood. Christmas Day! We were at her Mother and Father's house for dinner. I was nervous trying to figure out the right time to make it happen. I had hidden the ring in my coat pocket. If anyone looked really close they probably could have seen the bulge. My mom arrived and I knew that it was time, however I just didn't know what would be the right moment. Her mother told everyone to gather to say the blessing over the food. I raced up the stairs to grab the ring. I tried to cover it up as much as possible. I debated on if I would do it before or after the blessing. After everyone gathered around in a circle, I knew when. "Amen!" I grabbed her hands and told everyone, I had an announcement to make. "God has brought this woman to me! it was funny the pastor preached this Sunday about 'Not Now'. Its been 6 years that this woman has put up with me. Every single obstacle that has been put in our way, God has knocked them down. I've known this for a long time and it wasn't until recently, God said, NOW!" "WILL YOU MARRY ME?!?!" God's Favor!

For all the days along the way
