How We Met

Sweet & Simple

Both of us are still getting over the way we initially met, but, being that it is the 21st century, the way we did meet should not be one in which we are embarrassed about. :) I had been on Catholic Match for about three months when I saw a random picture on the site of guys at the Thomas Aquinas College graduation. I clicked on it and it led me to Charlie's profile (which of course had no profile picture of him...him being Charlie! :P). A couple days later, Charlie sent me a message, we talked for a few weeks and then had our first phone call...which lasted about 4 hours! By the second phone call that next weekend, I knew that this man was someone very, very special. We met in person almost exactly one month after our first phone call and Charlie took me out to a very romantic, candlelight, Italian dinner and we stayed until they almost closed. Since that time, Charlie would generously make the long three and a half hour drive from Tracy to Bakersfield, CA almost every weekend just to see me. As the days, weeks, and months passed, our love for each other and attraction grew stronger and the best part was that the thought of marrying each other came as the most natural thing. We both just knew it. Our relationship was simple, old-fashioned, and based on true love for each other. We loved God and we loved each other. Just about 6 months later, Charlie asked me one cold, Sunday night if I wanted to go on a walk. After objecting to it a couple times, due to the cold, I finally agreed to walk with him. As we walked, I noticed that Charlie kept his hands in his pockets and had an unusually happy expression on his face. We came to the end of the road and Charlie said that he had something to ask me and I, being myself, thought that he was going to ask me something about my favorite food. He then got down on one knee, pulled a ring from his pocket, and asked me to marry him! After recovering from my shock and jumping around and screaming, I was able to give my "yes"!
