Our Story

We met in college (roll tide!) while working at the same restaurant. I was a waitress, and he was a bartender. Almost everyone that worked there was our age, so we all hung out pretty regularly. Just imagine a restaurant where even the management is in their 20s and I'm sure you can picture what our nights were like. At first, Austin and I were just friends because I was dating someone else at the time. Austin will tell you he liked me long before I gave him the time of day. After my other relationship ended, we found ourselves hanging out more and more. It was actually our friend/bridesmaid Meredith who first told me Austin liked me and pushed me to date him (thanks girly!). I'll never forget we were watching Order of the Phoenix at Austin's apartment and right after the movie ended, he looked at me and blurted out I like you! (smooth is his middle name) I decided to give him a chance, and honestly it was the best decision I've ever made. We certainly didn't waste any time because about four months after making it official we adopted our dog, Willow. We both graduated from Alabama in 2018, and moved to Birmingham in 2019 so I could start dental school. Birmingham has since become our home, and we can't imagine living anywhere else. As any sane girl would do, after five years of dating I gave Austin one more year to propose or I was hitting the road! I'm pretty sure I asked him when he was going to propose/if he had gotten the ring every single day for almost a year (because yes, he called my bluff and waited almost the entire year). I went on a girl's trip to Hilton Head in May with three of my closest friends (love y'all) and little did I know they had helped Austin pull off the biggest surprise of my life. We took a day trip to Savannah, which also happens to be the first place Austin and I ever went together, and had the best day. The plan was to take photos together later in the day. We passed about ten parks on our way to take photos and it was SWELTERING, but I thought nothing of it. When we finally made it, I was in front of the camera doing what I thought were test photos, when all of a sudden Austin appears out of nowhere! I honestly blacked out and have no idea what he said but if you've seen the photos, you know how shocked I was. It was the perfect day and something I'll be forever grateful to my friends for helping with. We're so excited to start this next chapter of our lives with all of our favorite people!

For all the days along the way
