Believe it or not, we met on a plane. We were both coming back from a family vacation on Maui and Sarah and Jan, her mother, decided to sit next to Justin on the plane. Now if you have ever flown Southwest Airlines, you would know that is basically the one airline where passengers do not select their seats in advance. If we hadn't flown on this airline we would have never met. Ironically, Justin was originally not scheduled to take that flight back to Los Angeles, he switched at the last minute. Also, he typically sits in the window seat when traveling alone but because it was a longer flight, he selected the isle seat for the additional leg room. Upon entering the plane, Jan noticed that there was an open window seat, which Sarah preferred. So Jan asked Justin if anyone was sitting there, Justin said no, the two ladies took their seats and the rest is history.
It has always been Justin's dream to propose in Laguna Beach. So after deciding to marry Sarah, and many visits to multiple jewelry stores to find the perfect ring, Justin formulated a plan to propose to Sarah over Labor Day weekend of 2022. However, it has always been Sarah's dream to be surprised with a proposal. Sarah, being the intelligent woman that she is, discovered elements of his plan, which caused Justin to rethink. After cancelling a family trip to New Orleans for the 4th of July, Sarah decided to spend the holiday in Southern California. Having just purchased the ring a week before, and having it in his possession, Justin decided to surprise Sarah with a proposal that weekend. With the help of his family, Justin surprised Sarah on Victoria Beach in Laguna at sunset, where she said yes through a sense of shock and many happy tears.
