Ezekiel and Valery met in modern day fashion, on a dating app. Valery was drawn to Ezekiel’s smile and his fun-loving energy that was felt through his photos. Ezekiel messaged Valery, and she took a respectable 3 days to respond back. They hit it off quickly, conversation was easy and both of them were excited to meet each other . They had their first date on June 20th, 2020. Unbeknownst to each other, they both went home after and separately debriefed the date with their friends, both echoing that they had a really good feeling about eachother. Their gut feelings were right and they’ve been inseparable since.

Even before their relationship, Valery’s bucket list trip destination was always Mexico City. She originally wanted to put this trip off until she could go for Day of the Dead, but she had a lot of PTO to burn and figured she may as well use it as an excuse to finally visit Mexico City. She was secretly hoping Ezekiel would propose on this trip, and even invited her mom and younger sister to join in case the proposal did happen. On May 4, 2024, Ezekiel made Valery’s dreams come true by getting down on one knee in the middle of Zocaló, the historic city center of Mexico City. Valery almost ruined the surprise when she tried to avoid walking to the fountain, the spot of the proposal, because she was hungry and just wanted to get to breakfast quickly. She is forever grateful that Ezekiel and her mom didn’t let her stray from their secret plan. She of course said yes! This was the most special day since the start of their relationship and they are so excited to pay homage to the beautiful culture of Mexico on their wedding day.
