Answer

Yes! Travelers need a valid passport to enter Italy. The traveler’s passport must remain valid for at least 3 months after the traveler exits Italy. Please check your passport expiration date.

Question

What currency is used in Italy?

Answer

The Euro is the standard for Italy. Do NOT use currency exchanges in airports or local banks prior to the trip because exchange rates are typically bad. We recommend waiting until you're in a Euro country and using an ATM to withdraw Euros from your bank account. Please check with your bank to understand if they have any international withdrawal fees, currency transaction fees, how much your daily limit is, and which ATMs you can use. Most places accept credit cards and we recommend using this whenever possible. Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted, but fewer places accept American Express. Check with your credit card company to know if they charge any foreign transaction fees. Don't forget to set travel alerts with your bank and credit card companies!
