Parker and Evie both attended Baylor University and studied Accounting, but funny enough, their paths didn’t cross. While Parker was attending West End Church, Evie had visited the attached “Coffee House at West End”, yet somehow, they still missed each other. Instead, they met at work during the brief window when they both served as Auditors at KPMG. They were assigned to the same engagement team for just a couple of weeks during busy season. Their relationship was strictly professional at that point, but about a year later they started dating (yes, they reported this to KPMG- relax). A moment that Evie likes to recount during this brief window of meeting each other happened during a lunch break in the building’s food hall. They were both waiting in line at Rice Box, and the TV monitors were playing some random Japanese animated series. Parker took that opportunity to casually ask if Evie was into that kind of entertainment (because he definitely is). She said no. Parker brushed it off like it was no big deal… even though his heart was quietly breaking. Ironically, during their time dating, Evie ended up watching several Japanese animated series with Parker—though she still insists she’s “not really into it.”

Their first date was born from Evie’s competitive spirit. Knowing Parker was into basketball, she wanted to prove that she could beat him at pop-a-shot (arcade basketball). Naturally, Parker couldn’t resist the challenge, so they planned a date to find a bar with the arcade game. While Evie’s talents were stronger than expected, Parker ultimately dominated the field in the bar game world- winning not just pop-a-shot, but also air hockey, foosball, and ping pong. Also worth mentioning, Evie’s friend, Cecilia, stalked the entire first date… and Parker didn’t notice a thing. Parker and Evie dated for just under two years, and according to some of those nearest to them (ahem, Sara), they're considered “old” based on the activities they enjoy together. Their idea of a “fun vacation” involves driving to a remote part of Texas (with a stop at Buc-ee’s, obviously), and spending the day reading books on a porch- ideally with birds chirping in the background… I suppose Sara might have a point. It doesn’t stop there. They also enjoy playing pickleball, going on Costco runs, watching sitcoms, and taking long walks together. All jokes aside (not that any were made), Parker and Evie have found their greatest joy in attending church together at West End Church, reading the Bible daily, and serving in the kids’ ministry side by side.

Remember how we mentioned that the two love road trips to remote parts of Texas? Well, one of their favorite spots is a ranch 30 minutes north of Fredericksburg, where they’ve stayed in a cozy cabin every spring since they started dating. That was the spot where Parker proposed on February 22nd, 2025. Well… that is where he planned to propose that is, but due to a frozen pipe burst, he scrambled to come up with a backup plan (Proverbs 19:21). With the help of the local photographer he hired, they found a nice park where Parker was able to get down on one knee and ask Evie to marry him. By the grace of God, Evie said yes- even though earlier that same day she wasn’t too fond of Parker after losing five times in a row in two different board games. Parker has since acknowledged that that was a mistake, but you have to admit, the competitive spark between the two that started on their first date and came full circle to end their time dating is quite poetic (please keep them in your prayers on game night). The same cabin in Fredericksburg where Parker originally planned to propose will now be the place where he and Evie say “I do” in June 2025. They’re excited to share an intimate ceremony in the Texas Hill Country, surrounded by their parents and siblings, and officiated by their friend and pastor, Abe. The two are incredibly thankful and deeply blessed by the love and support of their family and friends and can’t wait to celebrate with everyone at their reception in August!
