Alex and I met online on a very popular dating app. We chatted on the app for sometime and Alex gave me his phone number to text rather than chatting through the app. We texted back and forth for a while and we finally decided to meet! On the day of the date; I was very nervous and hadn't texted him all day even when he had wanted to confirm for us meeting and going out that evening. I finally did confirm when I was waiting at the restaurant almost two hours early talking to my best friend who was trying to calm my nerves about the whole thing. Even though I was there super early texted 15 minutes before we were going to meet and and let him know "I was at the restaurant". He texted back something like "okay see you soon", and I waited... and waited... and waited... He finally called and told me he was going to be late and I said I would wait (and I'm sure glad I did). He was late because he thought I was going to cancel the date but he got there as fast as he could. We had a great night with an interesting beginning. So is online dating a good Idea? It was for us; you might be able to meet the person that you wanted to spend the rest of your life with!
We woke up and Alex had promised me a fun filled day and he would take me to 3 places. It was going to be so much fun except I couldn't know what we were going to be doing. Anyone that knows me knows... knows I don't like surprises... This being my birthday weekend though I'm sure it was going to be fun. And it sure was! First we went out to eat at 'New York Beer Project'! I had a yummy chicken sandwich and Alex had a poke bowl with raw tuna. I couldn't stand the sight of it but he seemed to enjoy it so that's all that mattered. Then we were off! Alex made me guess where we were going to go with a hint along the lines of, "something we both love to do." I guessed, "the movies" and I was right! We went to go see the new Thor movie in an almost empty theater and he got me a popcorn and my soda because I need those two things when watching a movie in a theater even when I'm stuffed from lunch! Lastly we went off to a winery! We had a tasting and we each got a glass of wine chatted in the winery for a bit then went on the patio. Alex bought me a few bottles and we really enjoyed our day and we were on our way home. Alex decided lets take a detour. This detour took us another 30 minutes out of the way to get home; but I wasn't worried because I knew we were just going to go home to relax; or so I thought. We finally pulled up the driveway and I hopped out the truck and Alex headed into the garage and asked if I could help him with something. I said yes I could of course and there they were. All My family. They all scream "SURPRISE" and my eyes welled up with tears. He got me; they all did. I had no idea... I was so surprised and felt so blessed that all my family was there for me on my 25th birthday. I hugged and thanked everyone while tears were running down my cheeks. Crazy as it sounds - that's not the end of the story. We ate and everyone sang happy birthday, we cut the cake and opened presents. After all the party festivities Alex had mentioned my best friend had made a special video that we were all going to watch. So we all went into the house while Alex messed with the projector to make it play. I stood next to it as it played this video about me and about how much I mean to my family while it had pictures of me and Alex, family and friends and everyone special to me. Everyone in the room was crying and them the video ended and Alex came around got down on one knee and Asked "If you would do the honor of becoming my wife?" And I of course said, "Yes!". I couldn't even see the ring until minutes later because my eyes were so filled with tears I couldn't see. I gave everyone a hug and thanked them all for being there on our special day. I'll never in my life forget that day and how special that it made me feel and how happy I was that I got to share it with the people that mean the most to me!
