Anthony and Madison’s story began with a little help from their friends. After finishing EMT school, Anthony started at the fire academy, where he met his now close friend Riley. Around the same time, Madison began working as a paralegal at Kersh Law Firm and became good friends with Angela. As it turned out, Riley and Angela were dating—and unknowingly about to play matchmaker. One Sunday afternoon, while Riley and Anthony were relaxing by the pool with Angela, Anthony said something that immediately made Riley and Angela think of Madison. It clicked—they had to introduce them. Riley called Madison and invited her to come by, but she was in Nacogdoches visiting family. Not wanting to miss the opportunity, Madison told Angela to pass along her phone number to Anthony. Madison figured she’d hear from him by Monday or Tuesday… but nothing. By Wednesday, she was texting Riley, half-joking (but not really), asking why his friend hadn’t reached out yet. Finally, on Friday afternoon, Anthony found a moment, worked up the courage, and sent the text. Madison was tied up at work, but after she got off, she gave him a call. What followed was an easy, natural conversation—and by the end of it, they had plans for their first date the following Friday. When Anthony arrived to pick Madison up, he watched as she walked across the yard in flip-flops. As she reached the gate, she casually kicked them off and walked up to him barefoot to say hello. Slightly caught off guard, Anthony smiled and asked, “So… do you have shoes to wear? You’re going to need them where we’re going.” Madison laughed and told him she had heels in her purse and would put them on in the car. That night, Riley checked in like any good wingman would, texting Anthony to ask how the date was going. Anthony didn’t hesitate—he replied that he had just met his wife. To this day, Anthony says he knew right then. The moment Madison kicked off her shoes and walked up to him, he fell in love—and knew she was the one.
